It's been a while since we've updated you and a lot has happened since then! In December our families came to visit us for about six days, and I think it's fair to say that we thoroughly wore them out! We had a lot of fun exploring the sites and food of Athens and they had the chance to do a little shopping also. The highlights included Rob's tour of the Acropolis, a visit to the poet sandal-maker, the views from Mt. Lycabettus, and residing at the Director's residence. After we left the Acropolis, Rob led our little tour group through the Agora to the temple of Hephaestus.
At the temple we got this cool shot with the Acropolis in the background. It was a gorgeous day! The following day we made our visit to the Poet Sandal-maker where Cindy, Seanna, and I picked out some super-awesome sandals. Seanna broke her sandals in while still in Athens, and I've been wearing mine around town too! I think Cindy found the perfect pair...
After we left the sandal shop we stopped by a gelato store for a short rest and headed to Monestaraki Square to continue the day of shopping. I got this fun picture of Seanna, Eric and Rob on the way!
The weather was great during the entire week for our guests. We were even able to have a picnic on the patio...but don't tell that to the folks back in the Midwest who were dealing with 2-4 feet of snow!!
Rob and I were both so happy to have a part of our family here over the holidays. It felt great to be able to share what we have learned since September and show them all of the things we had been talking about for so long. It was sad to see them go and we're looking forward to seeing everybody again at the end of May. In the meantime....Rob and I took a little excursion of our own over the holiday break...to ROME! Check back soon for a post about our time in Italy.
